CHANGE
In the stool two different materials and structures are joined, emphasizing each others differences, but merging into a new entity. The aluminum frame dictates the structure of the stool. The frame is inspired by a grid, a quadratic system of lines, set in standard distances, creating identical spaces. This gives the frame a static and firm structure. The felt is placed within the spaces and conforms to the grid structure that holds them. Although the frame dictates the structure, it also allows room for change. It is the connections that give this opportunity. Different models can be created by altering the structure. Change is possible, but the static and solid character will remain. This makes the project “changeable without change”.
